The recent recession has claimed yet another victim, this time it's Hip Hop mogul Jay-Z and his company J Hotels.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Jay-Z along with partners Abram Shnay, Scott Blaichman, and Charles Blaichman were to build a luxury hotel on a piece of land Jay-Z's company J Hotels purchased in Manhattan's Chelsea area.
Due to the recession, construction on the land has been delayed because of lack of funding. The recession has made it much harder to find funding and borrow loans from the bank.
"Even the banks who want to give us money can't," Charles Blaichman told the New York Times.
J Hotels and developer Charles Blaichman aren't the only ones being hit hard by the recession, $5 billion worth of development projects have either been delayed or canceled.
There is no word yet on how long the project will be delayed.
Aside from the potential Chelsea hotel, Jay-Z also has his New York nightclub 40/40 and a club in Las Vegas' Venetian Hotel which will open on December 30.
Most recently, Jay-Z made headlines when he sold his Rocawear line to Iconix Brand Group for $204 million.

During a recent performance as a part of Lil Wayne's I Am Music tour, T-Pain announced he was signing Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes [click to read] to his Nappy Boy label. Hip Hop's current Auto-tune king inked a deal with which provides him with the option for both a physical and a digital imprint to sign artists.
"Nappy Boy is T-Pain's brand and umbrella label," T-Pain's business partner Michael Blumstein tells Billboard. "The label will be a full-fledged indie label with PR, promo and everything else a physical label has."
Nappy Boy has various major-label partners including both Jive and Atlantic Records.
"I got crowned by the king himself tonight," McCoy said shortly after donning his Nappy Boy chain for the first time. "I feel like a little prince among kings, and we're gonna do it big."
It is not known if McCoy will record under the physical or digital arm of Nappy Boy, as he has enjoyed commercial success with Gym Class Heroes. The four-member Alt-Rock/Hip Hop outfit had a certified gold album with As Cruel as School Children, which spawned the platinum single "Cupid's Chokehold." In addition to working on the group's third album, The Quilt, McCoy has also appeared on tracks with Busta Rhymes, Kids in the Hall and other notable Hip Hop acts.

Eminem has revealed details of his long-awaited new album, "Relapse," in an exclusive interview with Billboard, conducted via email. The set is due next spring from Shady/Interscope.
Eminem is working on "Relapse" with longtime collaborator Dr. Dre, who put his own album, "Detox," on the backburner to help bring the project to completion.
"Me and Dre are back in the lab like the old days, man," Eminem says. "Just him banging away on tracks and me getting that little spark that makes me write to it. I don't have chemistry like that with anyone else as far as producers go -- not even close. Dre will end up producing the majority of the tracks on Relapse.' We are up to our old mischievous ways ... let's just leave it at that."
A handful of songs intended for "Relapse" have leaked online, most recently "Crack a Bottle," leaving Eminem "really heated. It wasn't close to finished, and it even has me doing guide vocals for Dre as a suggestion of how he could lay his verses down. It's like someone catches you peeping in your window before you got the Spider Man costume all zipped up! Nobody is supposed to see that. We are gonna finish it up though and get it out there how it's supposed to be."
Eminem also responded to producer Swizz Beats' recent comment that he'd submitted a track for the project described as a sequel to the hit single "Stan," telling Billboard, "I haven't worked with Swizz on this album.
"There isn't a 'Stan 2,' and there won't be," he says. "Stan drove his car off a bridge and I'm not writing a song as Stan's ghost. That would just be really corny."
While working on "Relapse," Eminem was also writing his autobiography, "The Way I Am," with Sacha Jenkins. The book has received favorable reviews and has spent time in the top 20 of the New York Times hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list.
"For me, writing an album is an entirely different process from making this book," he says. "The album requires a certain focus of mine that I can't really explain -- let's just say it's all I can really do while I'm doing it. With the book, the process was much more spread out, like, 'Let's get you together with Sacha for a few hours next week. Let's go thru these photos and artwork, etc.' The book was a lot more of a focus here-and-there thing as opposed to music, which totally consumes me every second."
Eminem goes into great detail in "The Way I Am" about how much he was impacted by the 2006 shooting death of fellow Detroit rapper Proof, who was one of his best friends.
"Opening the book with Proof's chapter was real important for me," Eminem says. "Everything from my past moving into my future is marked by his passing. It's sort of like life when Proof was with us, and life after -- a real dividing factor. He means more to me than a book chapter could describe, but I'm glad I was able to put him first, like he did for me so many times."
As for Shady Records' 2009 roster, Eminem says 50 Cent's delayed "Before I Self Destruct" will be out in February. "He's still working on it and getting back together with me and Dre next week to finish up," he says. "I have a couple of tracks on there with him. It's sick."
Afterward, Ca$his will release the follow-up to his 2007 "County Hound EP." Says Eminem, "People are going to be surprised what he is capable of. I produced a bunch of records on there as well."

Lil’ Wayne recently spoke about his thoughts concerning the diss from 50 Cent. When asked about 50 making a statement about Weezy jumping on everyone’s track, The New Orleans rapper said, ” OH MY GAWD! I’M BIG! [sarcastic voice] I’m big, man! I didn’t know that dude knew me! What’s up 50? I got beaucoup 50 Vitamin Waters. He got the coldest one, the rest of ‘em are really nasty. For real – don’t get that Revise – that other purple one. Naaaah, you gotta get that Formula 50. I done been fooled like that plenty of times. 50 got like the best-tasting Vitamin Water.”
So does that mean he doesn’t have a response? Well, he also went on to say, “A person like 50 Cent (can) say anything about me, you gotta understand, that’s what makes them who they are. So me getting mad, that would be outta Lil Wayne’s character. There’s been plenty of recorders right here in my face saying, What you think about such-and-such saying…? Nothing! I don’t think nothing! That ain’t me, I’m from New Orleans, man, we kill, for real, I’m not gonna stress that!”
When asked about being arrested this past July in NY at the Beacon Theatre, Lil’ Wayne said, “When they locked me up in New York and they asked me about Jay-Z, 50 Cent, G Unit and no fucking gun or weed like they made it look like on TV? Ask me what I told them – Nigga, I’m from New Orleans! I will murder ya’ll up in this bitch! Fuck that, why would I murder a rapper?! I’m gonna listen to his shit on the way to go murder another nigga!”
“They ain’t ask me a damn thing about no gun or no weed. That could have been the gun that shot Kennedy, they didn’t give a fuck! All they wanted to know was, [in cop’s serious voice], ‘So what’s the beef with you and Jay-Z? You and 50 Cent?’ I said, ‘Sir, let me tell you two words – Beef who? [slaps his chest where his heart is] New Orleans, murder capital, man!”, he continued.
Growing up in hip-hop, Wayne explained about his life so far, stating, “I signed my contract at 11, I put out my first solo album at 15 and I’m 25 and I’ve been living in that ever since. I haven’t sold a brick. I haven’t had to see one unless I wanted to snort it!”

50 Cent may find himself involved in yet another high profile beef. 50 who's known to pick and end numerous fights, recently found himself in the crosshairs of fellow Hip Hop power player Lil Wayne.
Though Wayne has never responded to any of Fif's jabs in the past, a recent leaked tracked entitled "Lousianimal," finds the "A Milli" hitmaker taking what many believe are numerous shots at 50 Cent.
"I'm all about a dollar, fuck two quarters Bitch I'll pour syrup in that Vitamin Water," Weezy fires off on the track.
In a move probably done to avoid any lyrical confrontation between the two, Weezy's camp put out word that the track is old and outdated.
Fif, however, doesn't care when it was recorded.
"I thought that was ineffective," Fif tells Whookid in a recent Shade45 interview.
"It doesn't matter if it's old or not. It's like if you don't know me from anywhere and I'm talking about your mother
I'm saying she dies an ugly death or whatever it is--and it leaks out...now I know how you feel."
In other news…
"Don't try to say hi and smile or shake a nigga's hand when you see him. It shouldn't been that when you ran into him if you meant it. Rappers is different, sometimes they really start to believe the words--believe what they're saying on their verse when...they just made that shit up."
Fif didn't give a clear yes or no whether he would respond to Wayne

Lil Wayne Accused Of Copyright Infringement
Lawyers for rapper Lil Wayne are seeking more time to turn over documents for a lawsuit that accuses the artist of copyright infringement.
A federal lawsuit filed in May claims Lil Wayne didn't have permission to sample Karma Ann Swanepoel's song "Once" in one of his own songs, "I Feel Like Dying."
The suit says Lil Wayne's record label, Cash Money Records, tried but failed to negotiate a license to use Swanepoel's song before millions of people downloaded "I Feel Like Dying."
A court filed on the 16th by Lil Wayne's attorneys asks a judge in New Orleans to extend a Friday deadline for turning over documents and other material requested by lawyers for Urband & Lazar Music Publishing.
